At xopet, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (available on iOS and Android) and website (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: your name, email address, and password when you register
- Pet profiles: your pet's name, species, breed, date of birth, weight, and profile photos
- Health records: vet visits, vaccinations, medications, and other health data you enter
- Daily check-ins: mood, meals, activity, and notes you log
- Memory journal: photos and captions you upload to the app
Information collected automatically
- Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information
- Usage data: features used, screens viewed, tap interactions, session duration, and time spent in the app
- Crash reports and diagnostics: error logs and performance data to help us improve app stability
- IP address: collected automatically when you use the Service
Device permissions
The xopet mobile app may request access to certain device features. These permissions are optional — you can use core features without granting all of them — but some features require specific access:
- Camera: to take photos for pet profiles and the memory journal
- Photo library / media: to select existing photos from your device
- Push notifications: to send medication reminders, appointment alerts, and other notifications you opt into
You can manage or revoke these permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Personalise your experience and deliver relevant content
- Store and display your pet's health records and profile data
- Send push notifications you have opted into (e.g. medication reminders)
- Analyse usage patterns to improve the app's features and performance
- Process in-app subscription purchases
- Respond to your support requests and communications
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Third-party vendors who help us operate the Service (e.g. cloud storage, analytics, push notifications, payment processing). These providers are contractually obligated to keep your data confidential and to use it only to perform services on our behalf.
- App stores: When you download the app or make a purchase, Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store) may collect information as described in their respective privacy policies. We do not control the data these platforms collect.
- Legal requirements: When required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or when we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our assets, your data may be transferred. We will notify you before your data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use Supabase (PostgreSQL) for database storage and Cloudflare for media storage and delivery, both of which maintain rigorous security certifications and standards.
While we implement appropriate technical and organisational safeguards, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by:

7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correction: request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion: request that we delete your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restriction: request that we restrict certain processing of your data
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Objection: object to processing of your data for direct marketing or legitimate interest purposes
- Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting prior processing

8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at akshay@xopet.in and we will delete that information promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by sending you an in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
